Water-in-Oil Moisturizing Night Cream

This facial cream adapted from a formula of Cosmetics and Toiletries is a stable emulsifying complex. It spreads well on the skin but is light.

Nikkol Silblend-91                                      8.00
(cyclomethicone, dimethicone,
dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer)

Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) oil                1.20

Macadamia (Macadamia ternifolia) seed oil    1.30

Phase B

Methylparaben                                           0.20

Propylparaben                                            0.05

Ethanol                                                     3.00

Propylene glycol                                         5.00

Glycerin USP                                              6.00

PEG-32                                                     0.20

PEG-220                                                   0.30

Sodium hyaluronate, 1% aq. sol’n.               1.50   

Sodium citrate                                           0.20

Hydroxyproline                                           0.20

Disodium EDTA                                          0.05

Distilled water                                          59.80

Procedure:

Mix ingredients of phases A and B separately until each is homogenous. Heat both to 70°C and add phase B to A. Stir with a dispersing mixer at a speed of 1,400-3,000 rpm until smooth. Increase mixer’s speed to 5,000 rpm and continue stirring for 10 minutes until mixture is emulsified. Cool to 28°C. Cool to 28°C while stirring gently with a paddle mixer at a speed of less than 100 rpm. Pour into sterilized jars.
